**Karnah, Kupwara:** The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism in Tangdar, Karnah, Kupwara, J&K. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone, unfurled the national flag (Tiranga) at the Mini-Secretariat, marking the beginning of the official celebrations. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Tehsildar Karnah Mohd Amin Bhat, Naib Tehsildars of Tangdar and Chamkote, Block Medical Officer Dr. Farooq Ahmad Qureshi, Nodal Officer Dr. Mukhtyar Ahmad Parry, Beoparmandal President Haji Taslem, former MLA Karnah Raja Manzoor, BJP General Secretary Kupwara Amjid Lone, BJP Constituency President Javaid Lone, Haji Kaneez Fatima of the People’s Conference, Chairman of Civil Society Peerzada Sirajdeen, Range Officer Karnah, and SHO Karnah Wasim Budoo.
During his address, SDM Zaffar Ahmad Lone paid tribute to the martyrs and freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices for the nation’s independence. He highlighted the importance of the day, reminding everyone of the values of freedom, unity, and patriotism.
The celebration was marked by a parade, cultural programs, and speeches that reflected the significance of independence and the responsibility of every citizen to uphold the values of the nation. The event was filled with a sense of pride as the national anthem was played, resonating through the region and instilling a deep sense of patriotism among the attendees.
In his speech, the SDM also mentioned ongoing and upcoming developmental projects in the region, including the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and the construction of a 12 MW hydro power project, expected to be completed by 2025. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the region’s development and assured that individuals who have contributed significantly to these projects will be recognized with appreciation certificates, trophies, and medals.
The celebrations were a testament to the unity and national spirit of the people of Tangdar, Karnah, as they came together to honor the country’s 78th year of independence.
