Srinagar, Aug 13 : A professional cyclist, Bilal Ahmad Dar and intentional Medalist from Budgam district has completed a non-stop ride of 425 kilometres from Srinagar to Leh covering the distance in 17 hours and 33 minutes.

Bilal began his journey at 5.30 am at Srinagar towards Leh, Bilal Ahmad Dar passed different high altitude passes like Zoji La (3528 mts), Namik La (3700 mts), Fatu La (4108 mts). The event was organised by the Indian army in a bid to explore the local talent of J&K. Bilal was supported and sponsored by the Indian army itself given his talent in cycling.

“In the process, the highest BPM was recorded by 186 and average speed remained 24.2 with maximum highest was recorded by 72.03, Bilal has broken the previous records set by Adil Teli in 2019 completed the said distance in 26 hours,” news agency learnt.

Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie and Mubashir Ahmad Wani both senior riders of the Jammu and Kashmir Cycling Association (JKCA) acted as observers of the ride right from Srinagar to Leh.

Furthermore, Bilal has become the Kashmiri new record holder to complete a non-stop cycling 425km and break all records. “I have participated in many cycling nationals and International events and secured a lot of medals for my State and Country but this was a different milestone to achieve in my career,” said Bilal adding, “I am very thankful to my coaches, Sponsors India army observers and my family who supported me every time in the chosen field”.

Special thanks to Indian army Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat Vice President JK Cycling Association who Monitor the whole event from Srinagar and guide me a lot for a successful finish—(KNC)
