SRINAGAR, AUGUST 12: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) took a significant stride towards promoting cleanliness, sustainability and responsible tourism practices with the launch of special initiatives as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada campaign at prominent tourist places and heritage sites in the Srinagar city, Viz, Shankar Acharya, Pari Mahal, and Mughal gardens.
Under this campaign, SMC organized dedicated cleanliness drives at these key locations, in keeping these sites pristine and free of litter. By fostering a sense of ownership and collective responsibility, SMC aims to elevate the overall visitor experience and preserve the beauty of these historical landmarks.
In a bid to amplify the message of cleanliness and environmental stewardship, SMC installed multilingual signage at these sites. These informative signs will serve as educational tools, conveying the importance of maintaining cleanliness, proper waste disposal practices, and the significance of preserving our cultural heritage for future generations.
Complementing these efforts, SMC distributed eco-friendly souvenirs to tourists visiting the sites. These sustainable gifts, such as reusable bags and eco-conscious products, are intended to inspire and encourage responsible tourism behaviors among visitors, promoting a culture of sustainability and conservation.
