Bandipora August 12: The Red Ribbon Club of HKM Degree College Bandipora today celebrated International Youth Day with great enthusiasm and active participation under the leadership of the Club’s convener, Prof. Irfan Ahmad Wagay.
On the occasion, the Club organised a Speech Competition on the theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” which resonated deeply with the participants and audience alike.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address from the College Principal in charge, Prof. (Dr.) Iqbal Hussain Qadri, who took the opportunity to inspire and commend the students who participated in the competition. The speeches presented were both insightful and thought-provoking, showcasing the depth of understanding and passion of the youth. Among the participants, Mehrun Nissa, a 4th Semester student, secured the first position for her eloquent
and impactful speech. The second and third positions were awarded to Afeel Ahmad (4th Semester student) and Tabassum Shafi (3rd Semester student), respectively, whose speeches also garnered much appreciation.
Adding to the depth of the event, Prof. Gowhar Muslim Shah, HoD Commerce, addressed the
gathering, reflecting on how technology has transformed society, particularly the youth, and the potential it holds for future progress. Prof. G.M. Khan, a faculty member in English Department, also delivered a brief speech. He emphasised the dangers of the misuse of the internet and technology, urging the youth to harness these tools for constructive purposes.
The event’s proceedings were expertly managed by Prof. Irfan Ahmad, ensuring a smooth and
engaging experience for all. The jury consisted of Prof. Mohd. Shaikhul Ashraf, a senior faculty in Botany and Prof. Bilquees Rasool, HoD English. They provided their valuable insights
in evaluating the participants. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Tariq Ahmad Bhat, HoD History, acknowledging the efforts of all involved.
The event not only celebrated the vibrancy and potential of youth but also highlighted the
importance of guiding them towards responsible and sustainable digital engagement.
