REPORT: 149th BASIC MOUNTAINEERING COURSE CONDUCTED BY JIM & WS

Srinagar, 20 Jul 2024. JIM & WS successfully concluded the 149th Basic Mountaineering Course, held from 28 June to 21 July 2024. The course saw participation from 70 trainees from various parts of the country. Out of these, 69 trainees successfully completed the course.

Participants. 70 students participated out of which ,69 students completed the course successfully.

1. Rope Knots, Hitches & Coiling of Rope.
2. Preparation of Bases
3. Anchoring & Belaying
4. Bouldering & Types of Holds
5. Principles of Climbing & Rappelling
6. Artificial Climbing
7. Zip Line & Casualty Evacuation
8. Stream Crossing
9. Pitch Climbing & Rope Fixing
10. Obstacles & Tent Pitching
11. Height Gain Trekking
12. Lectures on Mountain Terminology, Do’s & Don’ts, Avalanche, Glacier, etc.
13. Snow & Ice Craft (10pt, 2pt, 3pt, 4pt techniques, crevasse rescue, avalanche rescue, etc.)
14. Screening of a few mountaineering movies
15. Evaluation in the form of written examination and viva
