Indira Gandhi National Open University is a premier institution of open and distance learning in India, established with the aim of democratizing higher education and expanding access to quality education for all. The university is proud to announce the launch of various new innovative programmes in ODL mode for July 2024 admission cycles which are aimed to enrich the educational opportunities available to the aspiring students across the country. These new initiatives underscore University’s commitment to fostering accessible and inclusive learning environments. The programmes are MBA in Agribusiness Management, Health Care and Hospital Management, Construction Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Rehabilitation Psychology, Fashion Design and Retail and certificate programmes like Event Management, Early Childhood Special Education Enabling Inclusion in Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment and Intellectual Disability. Also Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between IGNOU New Delhi and Rehabilitation Council of India for launching of the PG in Rehabilitation Psychology programme throughout the country for July 2024 admission cycle. Composite Regional Centre Srinagar will be one of the study centres of IGNOU throughout the country where the programme can be started. We are also in the process of signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar for the establishment of a Programme study centre where Diploma in Fashion Design and Retail programme can be activated. Besides this, two new proposals for establishing the IGNOU study centre at Sher e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir and Islamic University of Science and Technology are in the pipeline where the agriculture and science based programmes can be activated. We are also exploring the possibilities of opening new study centres where the MSC programmes like Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Biochemistry can be activated.
Regional Director, Dr. A.H. Rizvi emphasized the university’s commitment to providing accessible and flexible education opportunities to learners across the Kashmir Division including the UT of Ladakh.
The university has extended the last date for admission to its various programmes for the ongoing academic session in order to accommodate potential learners who were unable to complete their admission formalities within the initially announced timeline. This extension applies to all certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and master programmes offered by the university. Prospective students who wish to enroll in IGNOU for the ongoing academic session are encouraged to take advantage of this extended deadline. This additional time offers an opportunity for those who may have faced challenges or delays in completing their applications earlier.
Dr. A.H. Rizvi, said that the admission to all the academic programmes offered in Open Distance Learning or Online Learning mode for the July 2024 admission session is presently going on. The last date for submitting the application form through online mode has been further extended till 31 July 2024.
