4-year-old girl molested in Handwara; accused arrested

Srinagar, Jul 09: A youth was arrested by Handwara police for his alleged involvement in molesting a 4-year-old girl in a Handwara village, an official said on Tuesday.

A police officer said that the family reported the incident to the police, following which the minor girl was taken to GMC Handwara for examination, where doctors confirmed she had been molested. The family of the victim has sought strict action against the accused.

The police officer also said the accused has been arrested, and the girl is currently being examined by doctors at the hospital. Initial reports indicated that the girl had been molested. The officer assured the public that strict action would be taken against the accused.

The police have urged parents and guardians to be extra cautious and report any suspicious behaviour to the police immediately.(RK)
