SAMBA, JUNE 14: The 125th Birth Anniversary of Brigadier Rajinder Singh, renowned as the “Saviour of Kashmir,” was celebrated with great reverence at his birthplace in Rajinder Singh Pura, Samba.
The event was organized by District Administration Samba in collaboration with the J&K Ex-Servicemen League.
During the commemoration, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma, paid homage to Brigadier Rajinder Singh, expressing immense pride in the fact that such a distinguished warrior hailed from the state. Sharma urged the youth to follow in Brigadier Singh’s footsteps, pledging to always safeguard the country’s honor and make their countrymen proud.
He commended the J&K Ex-Servicemen League and the people of Bagoona for their dedication in honoring Brigadier Singh’s legacy annually.
“The valor and supreme sacrifice of Brigadier Rajinder Singh must be highlighted to inspire future generations,” Sharma stated. He appealed to the youth to strive diligently, avoid social evils, and engage in proactive public participation for the prosperity of society and the nation.
Responding to the demands presented by the President of J&KESL, DC assured that every possible step would be taken to fulfill their requirements.
The event featured a cultural program presented by the Slathia brothers and local school children. The Deputy Commissioner lauded the students for their performances and encouraged them to actively participate in co-curricular activities while remembering the nation’s heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s honor and dignity.
Among others, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma, AVSM, SM (Retd), President J&K Ex-Services League, Th Gulchain Singh, President Dogra Sadar Sabha, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh, Capt Prakash Singh , Chairman Brig Rajinder Singh Memorial Committee, Mrs Rachna Thakur, Maj Devyani Singh, Brig Rajinder Singh, Col Oshnak Chauhan, Secretary JKESL, Brij Raj Singh, Ex Sarpanch Rajinder Singh Pura, Rimpu Singh were also present on the occasion.
