KULGAM, JUNE 07: With an aim to promote awareness and understanding of Food Safety, the Food Safety department Kulgam today organized multiple functions to celebrate ‘World Food Safety Day-2024’ on the theme ‘Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected.’
The day began with the flagging-off a rally of students by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan from Mini-Secretariat here which culminated at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kulgam as part of the ‘Eat Healthy and Live Healthy’ campaign and celebrating ‘World Food Safety Day 2024.’
Later, an awareness session was held at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kulgam on the theme ‘Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected.’
During the program, the attention of students was drawn towards the importance of food standards as a way of ensuring safety and quality of food, and ways to prevent, detect and manage food borne risks.
Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Kulgam, Nighat Hassan; Food Safety Officer Inderjeet Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Kulgam and other officers were also present.
The program was organized by Drug & Food Control Organization J&K, Food Safety department Kulgam, District Youth Services and Sports department and Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Kulgam and witnessed participation of hundreds of students, besides officials and citizens.
On the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety encouraged students to promote healthier eating habits. She said that by celebrating the ‘World Food Safety Day-2024,’ sustainable and nutritious benefits are being highlighted.
Later a Yoga Session was also held at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kulgam.
