Crackdown against illegal mining- Police in Baramulla registered 129 cases, seized 210 vehicles & arrested 210 persons during the five months of 2024

“`Police in its ongoing drive against illegal mining in Baramulla have registered 128 cases and arrested 210 persons for being involved in extraction/ transportation of minerals during the five months of 2024. Moreover, 210 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals which includes 91 Tippers, 113 Tractors & 6 excavators have also been seized from different areas of the district.

Baramulla Police along with the Mineral Department realised fine in lacs for illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the district.

Police is committed to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.`
