Poonch 25, May : Polling in the sixth phase of General Elections 2024 which commenced at 7 am today simultaneously across 3 ACs viz: Haveli, Surankote and Mendhar recorded a massive turnout of voting.

Voters came out in large numbers braving hot weather that went for polls today. Polling was closed at 6 PM, but a large number of voters were still in the queue at polling stations.

The Team led by District Election Officer Yasin M. Choudhary(IAS) kept a close watch on each and every aspect of the poll process and issued necessary directions, during the day. Stringent security measures were in place creating a conducive environment for voters to cast their vote without fear or intimidation.

The provisional updated voter turnout figures available on Voter Turnout App of ECI are as Haveli-89 (67.35%), Mendhar-90 (64.69%), and Surankote -88 (68.56%).

At every polling station, basic minimum facilities of water, electricity, toilet, ramp, etc were made. Even wheelchairs and volunteers were provided as and when required. Effort was made to give better experience to voter.

Deputy commissioner Poonch took and extensive tour of the polling stations across all the three assemble constituencies. Special to mention, deputy commissioner visited PS-Qasba which lies across the fence to ensure AMF.

Additionally, in order to ensure inclusive voting, pink polling stations, specially abled persons and youths polling stations were also established. Also to spread the message about environmental concerns green polling stations were set up. Voters across ages patiently waited patiently for their turn to cast their vote and proudly showcased their inked fingers.

The District Election Officer Poonch congratulated all the voters and expressed gratitude towards all those voters who came in large numbers to cast their votes. He also appreciated work done by all the Polling personnel, including security personnel deployed in the election process, Police officers, ARO, for their service for conducting election successfully in the District.
