College Student’s Bail Application Rejected in Alleged Rape and Blackmailing Case

Baramulla, 22 May: UP District Court have declined the bail application of a college student namely simran jeet singh son of Manjeet Singh from Deedarpora Rafiabad, Baramulla district, who stands accused in a case of alleged rape and blackmailing of a teacher.

The victim, a resident of Jhajjar, Haryana, reported the incident to authorities on March 11, 2024, which occurred on May 8, 2022.

According to the complaint, the accused, a student at an institute in Baghpat in 2022, purportedly gave the victim a cake laced with intoxicants, causing her to become semi-conscious. Taking advantage of her state, he allegedly committed the crime and recorded obscene videos and photos.

Subsequently, he allegedly blackmailed her, threatening to disseminate the compromising material online if she didn’t comply with his demands.

Following diligent investigation, authorities arrested the accused from his residence

He was brought to Baghpat on transit remand from Jammu and Kashmir and presented before the court, where his bail application was rejected, and he was remanded to judicial custody.

Kotwali in-charge Rakesh Kumar Sharma reaffirmed the police’s commitment to pursuing the case diligently, emphasizing the gravity of the charges against the accused.

The incident has stirred outrage in the community, highlighting the imperative for swift and decisive action to ensure justice for the victim.[UNK]
