RAMBAN, MAY 15: The Drug and Food Control Organization (D&FCO) carried-out an intensive inspection of the medical stores across the district to check the registration, authorization and record of availability and sale of medicines, besides the quality of medicines available in these chemist shops.
Drug Control Officer (DCO) Imtiyaz Ahmed inspected various medical stores in Banihal area of district Ramban. During the inspection, the chemists were instructed to install CCTV cameras and ensure that the sale of Drugs is made only on a valid and proper prescription.
Chemists were made clear that there will be zero tolerance towards misuse of prescription drugs and erring medical shops will be dealt strictly under Drugs & Cosmetics Act.
The DCO directed all the Chemist establishments to adhere to the laid down norms strictly and warned the defaulters to desist from any unethical trade practices, failing which strict action as warranted under the Act shall be taken against them.
The department appealed to the general public to keep a vigil on persons involved in the trade of Narcotics & Psychotropic drugs, and inform the concerned if they found any violation of rules.
