Cautions Parents against hiring unsafe private vehicles
JAMMU, MAY 11: District Collector, Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Saturday convened a meeting with principals of the schools operating in the district to discuss the safety of students during transportation.
The DC emphasised that the safety of children is the topmost concern of the district administration and that no unauthorised or unsafe transportation of students would be tolerated. He also cautioned parents that they would be held equally responsible in case of any mishaps occurring due to overcrowding in private hired vehicles.
The principals presented their views regarding their own school buses as well as other private transports hired by parents.
The meeting also discussed the deployment of Road Transport Department and Traffic Police officials to monitor school buses and other private vehicles hired by parents. The DC assured regular and consistent monitoring of these vehicles.
The principals have been urged to raise awareness among parents about the importance of safe transportation and to explore other possible ways to provide safe and secure transportation for students.
The meeting was attended by ADC Ansuya Jamwal, ADC Shishir Gupta, SSP Traffic City Faisal Qureshi besides ARTO and other concerned officers also.
