RAMBAN MAY 10: A two day comprehensive back-to-back review meeting of ICDS projects of Ramban concluded today at Banihal. Chaired by Project Officer ICDS Jahangir Hashmi, the meeting underlined key strategies for effective implementation of the Poshan (ICDS) scheme in four ICDS projects in Gool, Ukhraal (Ramsoo), Ramban and Banihal.
The two-day session, which concluded in Banihal, saw attendance from concerned Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and supervisors from these areas.
Hashmi emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to the Poshan (ICDS) scheme, moving beyond merely addressing malnutrition among children and women. He stressed the importance of preparing children for school through preschool learning initiatives, in addition to providing nutritious meals.
Anganwadi centers, he explained, will now serve as holistic preschool stations, focusing on nutrition provision, school readiness, and continuous growth monitoring. Hashmi directed officials to ensure 100% Aadhaar verification for all enrolled beneficiaries, aiming for complete transparency in the system. Currently, 98% of beneficiaries under ICT schemes are Aadhaar verified.
Hashmi instructed the verification of all workers and Anganwadi helpers to guarantee their presence at respective centers, with online attendance and Poshan tracker uploads to ensure accountability. All nutrition provisions and activities, including growth monitoring and vaccination schedules, are to be meticulously recorded on the online portal for real-time monitoring and corrections.
Supervisors were tasked with ensuring the inclusion of all eligible women under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) scheme. Hashmi’s directives aim to enhance the effectiveness and transparency of ICDS initiatives, ultimately improving child and maternal health outcomes in the region.
