The Fire and Emergency Services Department is proud to announce the commencement of Fire Service Week, aimed at raising awareness among the public regarding fire prevention and precautionary measures.
The week-long event will feature a variety of programs and activities to educate and engage the community.
The highlight of the week, is to Commemoration Parade held at Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters in District Kupwara.
This solemn event paid tribute to the gallant firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while safeguarding lives and property during rescue and firefighting operations.
Officers and jawans of the department laid wreaths on the memorial, and a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs.
The significance of observing April 14th as Fire Services Week is emphasised, with emphasis on the department’s mission of “We Serve to Save.”
The devastating impact of fires and natural calamities was also highlighted, underscoring the importance of fire safety and preparedness.
Throughout the week, the Fire and Emergency Services Department will conduct demonstrations on fire safety measures in various establishments, including educational institutes, hospitals, and other institutions.
Additionally, essay competitions will be held to encourage students to learn about fire prevention and share their insights.
The department has also organised sports events, evacuation drills, fire audits, and cultural activities to engage the community and foster a sense of preparedness and unity.
