UDHAMPUR, APRIL 13: The historic three-day Devika Baisakhi mela commenced today with great zeal and enthusiasm on the banks of holy Devika rivulet in Udhampur district under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai.

Witnessed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, PO Poshan Subash Dogra who is also the Mela Officer, SDM Dudu Dr. Manmeet Kumar, SDM Chenani Gurdev Kumar, District Information Officer Rajinder Digra and BDO Chenani, Ram Paul, the cultural bonanza marked the beginning of the festivities.

The District Administration had meticulously arranged for uninterrupted power supply, safe drinking water, sanitation, medical facilities, a control room and security measures to ensure the smooth celebration of the mela.

While addressing the gathering, ADC extended warm wishes on this auspicious Baisakhi day, highlighting the significance of the historic Mela at the sacred Devika Ghat, attracting people from all walks of life to partake in rituals and take holy baths in the Devika rivulet. ADC also urged citizens to cast their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing their role in nation-building and the importance of each vote in forming a robust government.

Under the SVEEP initiative, a theme-based mega Cultural Programme was organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations DIC, Udhampur, presenting scintillating cultural performances depicting local traditions, which captivated the audience.
