KARNAH: Ultimately, the authorities in Karnah successfully transported the deceased child’s body to Karnah with the assistance of the army, alleviating the anxieties of the locals. The necessity arose due to prolonged disruptions on the highway, obstructed by persistent stone and debris hazards. In response, the administration orchestrated a helicopter service to expedite the delivery of the child’s remains to Karnah on Monday. This decision was prompted by the unfortunate passing of a 10-year-old from Parada village in Karnah at Children’s Hospital Bemina in Srinagar on March 28. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Rauf Rehman mobilized the army’s support to facilitate the transport, coordinating a chopper service. Subsequently, the child’s body was airlifted to Karnah Helipad later that afternoon, enabling its swift transfer to the native village for burial, where funeral rites were conducted in the evening. The arduous task of clearing mud and debris from the highway consumed the entire day, delaying its restoration until late evening. Consequently, hundreds of stranded passengers and freight vehicles endured a fourth day of inconvenience before relief finally arrived.
