Kupwara, Feb 29: Chairman, District Development Council, Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori today chaired the council meeting in the meeting Hall of DC Office Complex to review the progress of various developmental projects under Capex Plan 2023-24.

District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, Vice-Chairman, District Development Council, Haji Farooq Mir, Members of District Development Council, besides District/ Sectoral Officers also attended the meeting.

At the outset, the CPO Kupwara, presented a detailed overview of the ongoing and completed projects under UT Capex, ADF (DDC/BDC/PRI grants), Aspirational District Plan, Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP), SBM, JJM etc.

The meeting was informed that a budget of Rs.102380.10 Lacs was approved for District Capex for the year 2023-24 under which 3226 works (S.O works + New) have been identified, out of which 1984 works have been completed.

It was informed that funds released as on date are 48412.13 and expenditure incurred up to ending 2/2024 is 33105.15 Lacs which is 68 % of total approved outlay.

The chairman took a detailed review of the physical & financial status of works taken up under the District Capex schemes and sectors including minor irrigation, PWD(R&B), elementary education, secondary education, PHE, Health, Urban Development, RDD, Youth Services & Sports, Samridhi Seema Yojna etc..

During the meeting, council members projected various demands concerning their respective constituencies including issues of snags in transformers, legal action and black listing of non-performing contractors, speeding up of work on developmental projects, pending of PMAY-G 2nd and 3rd installments etc.

The Council Members also urged for holding special meetings of the council with officers of various departments viz. Agriculture & Allied Activities Departments, solid liquid waste management in rural areas, Forest, Jal Shakti, JKPDCL and Health to discuss issues of public interest and chart out the joint strategies.

After reviewing the sector wise progress of the works, the chairman impressed upon all the departments / executing agencies to expedite the work on approved projects as there is a very short working time left. He urged the officers to expedite completion of projects so that all targets for the current financial year are achieved within the stipulated time frame.

Earlier, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan directed the officers to put in their best efforts for timely completion of works for optimum utilization of funds under different schemes. She also directed the concerned officers for mobilizing of concerned contractors and ensuring that lapse of funds is avoided in the district. She further directed the concerned officers to raise issues of land for different projects so that these issues are immediately resolved and projects are executed in a time bound manner.
