DC Kupwara reviews functioning of Shelter Homes for stranded passengers

KUPWARA, Feb 3: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning of designated Shelter Homes to facilitate the stranded passengers of border areas of Karnah, Keran and Machil during the closure of roads in wake of extreme weather conditions.
DC took a detailed review of the facilities being provided in the designated Shelter Homes established at GHSS Panzgam, GHS Meelyal and GHSS Kalaroose.

She directed ACR Kupwara and concerned Tehsildars to visit the Shelter Homes and check the facilities being provided there especially functioning of kitchens, beddings, heating arrangements.

AD food was directed to provide basic dry ration for the stranded passengers at Shelter Homes.

Concerned DFOs were directed to provide firewood for the designated Shelter homes.

Nodal Officer, Heli Service was directed to arrange the helicopter sorties for the patients and stranded passengers as the weather clears.

On the occasion, DC said that for distress calls, concerned Tehsildars will be the contact persons who will coordinate with other line departments.

DC asked the R&B, PMGSY and MC Kupwara to keep ready all men and machinery for clearing of snow from roads.

DC further directed PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply for DH, SDHs and other hotlines.

Meeting was attended by SE R&B, CMO Kupwara, EXen PDD, EXen Mechanical Engineering wing, ARTO, EO Municipal Council Kupwara, Tehsildars, AD Food and other officers.
