January 12:Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund along with Incharge PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop Chowk intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK14B-2204 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Aabid Hussain Peer son of Peer Sirajudin resident of Soaf Shali, Anantnag and Sohail Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Abass Wani resident of Dhamal Anantnag. During checking, officers were able to recover 05 grams of Heroin like contraband substance from their possession. Both persons were arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
