JAMMU, JANUARY 03: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today chaired the meeting of the Committee of Experts constituted by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to find out the reasons behind road accidents on Ramban-Batote –Doda -Kishtwar National Highway and the Mughal road .

 

The members of the committee- Prof G M Bhat, former HoD Department of Geology JU, Dr Ankit Khajuria, Assistant Professor from IIT Jammu, Er Mohinder Kumar, former Executive Engineer and Major Gaurav Tewari GREF attended the meeting.

 

The Committee of experts will inspect these roads to assess and find out the reasons responsible for accidents in the hilly areas.

 

During the meeting, the Div Com emphasised the importance of the fact findings and recommendations by the Committee that would be implemented to save the precious lives.

 

The Div Com stressed on the members of the committee for generating actionable points, immediate measures and practical steps in their report.

 

The Div Com asked the members of the committee to submit their report at the earliest after visiting the roads, vulnerable sections and assessment of the reasons.

DC reviews progress of ongoing PWD projects in Poonch District

 

POONCH, JANUARY 3: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Yasin M. Choudhary chaired a meeting in the Conference hall of DC Office Complex to review the progress of projects undertaken by different sub divisions of PWD (R&B) Department.

 

The DC took a comprehensive review of physical and financial progress of works taken up by the PWD (R&B) under NABARD, UT-Sector, City & Town, DDC, BDC, PRI Grants and others.

 

The Deputy Commissioner was updated on the progress, accomplishments, and objectives of various ongoing projects.

 

The DC directed XENs to pace up the speed of all ongoing works to achieve completion in a time bound manner. He further asked the concerned XENs to mobilize men and machinery for the saturation of all the pending schemes within set timelines. He also called for removing bottlenecks by taking all concerned departments onboard.

 

He also directed the concerned Executive Engineers to take help from concerned SDMs and other administrative officers to resolve bottlenecks which impact the execution of work, especially developmental projects of the social sector.

 

Issues impeding the developmental projects were also discussed threadbare in the meeting wherein the DC said that inter department coordination is a must to resolve developmental bottlenecks and timely completion of works.

 

The Deputy Commissioner further asked stakeholders to conduct joint inspection of projects to take decisions on-the-spot to resolve the issues, if any.

 

Further, while taking note of expenditure management, the DC directed to achieve the financial targets within the shortest possible time, and directed for 100 percent expenditure under different schemes.

 

The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B)Poonch, CEO Poonch Development Authority, PO ICDS, SDM Surankote, CMO, CEO, ALL XENs/AEE/JEE of PWD Division and Sub-Divisions, Range Office Poonch/Mendhar/Surankote.
