DDC Jammu chairs public outreach camp at Bhalwal Brahmana

JAMMU, DECEMBER 06: The weekly Block Diwas, a flagship programme of the UT administration to ensure public participation and grievance redressal at the grassroots level, was held at Bhalwal Brahmana in block Pargwal today.

The event was chaired by the District Development Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, who listened to the issues and demands projected by the public and assured timely resolution of the same.

DDC Member, Bhushan Bral; BDC Chairperson, Neha Rajput and other PRI representatives and a large number of locals were present on the occasion.

Among the issues raised by the public, the most prominent ones were related to the protection of land and crops from the erosion caused by the Chenab river, the completion of the Pargwal-Indri Bridge, and the expediting of one Jal Jeevan Mission project in the block.

The DDC assured the public that their demands and issues have been recorded and will be addressed as per the standard procedure of examining and resolving them on the basis of their feasibility and merit.

The DDC sorted some issues on the spot, while the rest were promised to be solved as soon as possible. He also said that the issues that could not be tackled in the current financial year will be given priority in the next financial year.

Regarding the Jal Jeevan Mission project, the DDC said that the administration is committed to provide piped water supply to every household in the district and has prioritised implementation of the project.

The DDC also reviewed the progress of various developmental works and welfare schemes in the block and directed the officers to ensure quality and timely completion of the projects. He also asked them to conduct regular field visits and monitor the ground situation.

He also appreciated the efforts of the PRI representatives and the locals for their active participation and cooperation in the Block Diwas programme and urged them to continue the same in the future.

The DDC inspected various stalls set up by different departments to showcase their schemes and services.

The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Preeti Sharma; Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh; Block Development Officer, Virinder Kumar besides other district officers.
