Kupwara : The Department of Youth Services & Sports, in collaboration with the District Administration of Kupwara, has officially announced the Winter Cricket Championship. Scheduled to follow T20 patterns, the championship will unfold at prominent venues like Galizoo Stadium Kupwara, Sports Stadium Pandithpora, Cricket Stadium Haqanlabad Punzwa, and Sports Stadium Chamkoot Tangdar.
Interested teams must register at their respective Zonal Physical Education Offices by November 28, 2023, ensuring compliance with all codal formalities for successful registration. The tournament, adopting a knockout format, emphasizes the inclusion of players from specific Panchayat Halqa/Municipality wards, limiting teams to one per Panchayat/Municipality Halqa.
With matches adhering to the T20 format, proper attire is mandatory for participants, and the age limit is set at 30 years as of December 31, 2023. Teams are urged to bring their sports kit, while cricket balls will be provided by the department. Umpire decisions will be final, and cash prizes await the winning and runner-up teams, with outstanding performers receiving individual awards.
The tournament’s excitement peaks with the Man of the Match felicitation for each competition. Semifinals and Finals, slated for Galizoo Stadium Kupwara, promise riveting action.
