Tragedy struck in North Kashmir’s Kupwara as a Sumo vehicle carrying multiple passengers overturned at Nati Top in Gabra, Tangdar, leading to the feared deaths of four individuals and causing injuries to several others.

According to initial reports, a fully occupied Sumo lost control and skidded off the road at Nati Top in Gabra, Tangdar, resulting in a devastating accident that claimed the lives of four passengers. Several others on board the vehicle sustained injuries, and immediate medical attention was required.

Swift response from local residents and the police was crucial in assisting and evacuating the injured passengers from the accident site. The injured individuals have been promptly transferred to a nearby hospital for necessary medical treatment, where medical personnel are working diligently to provide the care they require.

Beopar Mandal Karnah Haji Tasleem Mir and BDC Chairman Mr Khawaja Rayaz Ahmad request LG Honourable Lieutenant Governor, District Administration Kupwara, and Civil Administration Karnah to provide ex-gratia in favor of families of victims.

During the tenure of the PDP and BJP government in Kashmir, compensation was provided to those who died in accidents.

Our correspondent engaged in a conversation with President NHRM Karnah, Dr. Muhltayar Ahmad Parry, who extended an earnest plea to vehicle operators. He stressed the importance of not overloading vehicles, emphasizing that safety should never be compromised. Dr. Parry also affirmed the commitment of NHRM Karnah in supporting the people of Karnah during these difficult moments, expressing profound sympathy for the bereaved families.
