GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 17: In view of approaching winter, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting of officers to review the power supply scenario in the district.

At the outset, the DC sought details from the officials regarding power supply scenario in the district. Executive Engineer PDD presented a detailed action plan regarding the arrangements being put in place to ensure power supply to the consumers as per the curtailment schedule during the winter season.

While giving details, the Executive Engineer said that unscheduled power cuts are caused due to overloading of several receiving stations especially during peak hours saying that field and technical staff is making all efforts to distribute the load equally to avoid overloading to ensure power supply is provided to the consumers as per the curtailment schedule.

The DC Directed the PDD to submit the power curtailment schedule Panchayat wise which should be given wide publicity so that people are aware about the curtailment schedule.

While interacting with the officials, the DC maintained that district administration is committed to providing uninterrupted power supply to the consumers and directed the Executive Engineer to ensure that the power supply is provided to the consumers as per the curtailment schedule.

He also stressed them to take prompt measures to ensure time-bound redressal of the genuine concerns regarding power supply so that people may not suffer.

Meanwhile, the DC appealed to the people to make judicious use of electricity and refrain from using crude heaters to avoid overloading of receiving stations which are the main cause of power disruption.

The meeting also discussed the power generation capacity within the district. The Executive Engineer Generation Division Ganderbal briefed about the current power generation capacity from Hydro power projects available in the district whose power generating capacity is affected due to less discharge in power canal during winters.

The DC gave necessary instructions to the concerned for taking necessary steps for upgradation of existing power projects in the district.

The meeting was attended by CPO, SE, KPDCL, Executive Engineer KPDCL Division Ganderbal, Executive Engineer, KPDCL, DivSumbal, Executive Engineer PDC USHP-1Sumbal, Executive Engineer, CMD SVP, Kangan, Executive Engineer CMD USHP-Il Kangan, Executive Engineer, STD, Ganderbal, Executive Engineer PDC NGHEP Div.I &ll Ganderbal, Executive Engineer Generation Div Ganderbal and other concerned.
