Cultural Extravaganza marks Mela Magh celebration at GHSS Ligri Paddar

KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 13: In connection with the vibrant celebration of Mela Magh, a cultural program illuminated Government Higher Secondary School Ligri Paddar, District Kishtwar today.

The event organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), unfolded as a significant chapter in the ongoing series of cultural festivals throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

Mela Magh, an annual three-day celebration in the village of Ligri (Paddar), District Kishtwar, drew thousands from surrounding villages and all over District Kishtwar.

The festival commenced on October 13, 2023, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of erstwhile District Doda.

Presided over by Anju Rani, Sarpanch Panchayat Ligri Paddar and graced by Satish Kumar Rana, Tehsildar Paddar as the Chief Guest, the program witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Balraj Chowhan, Principal Govt. Hr. Sec. School Ligri Paddar, Insp. Vikram Singh Station House Officer, and other PRIs and prominent personalities.

Chief Guest, Satish Kumar Rana acknowledged JKAACL’s role in promoting local culture under the guidance of Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JKAACL and Sanjeev Rana, Additional Secretary JKAACL.

Anju Rani appreciated the efforts of JKAACL to showcase local art in the remote areas of the District, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering communal harmony and preserving age-old cultures. She congratulated Slah ud Din SOCA JKAACL Sub Office Doda and the entire team for organizing the event.

The cultural extravaganza featured Paddari Ghurrai Dance, Shena Bhudist Dance, Paddari Kharzaath Dance, and soul-stirring singing performances by renowned artists, including Navrattan Shetyan, Ved Rattan, Amar Singh, and Shadi Lal.

The event was held under the overall supervision of Slah ud Din, Cultural Officer JKAACL Sub Office Doda.

Vote of thanks was presented by Gulab Saifi, Incharge program.
