DC Bandipora reviews functioning of Rural Development and PR Department

BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 07: To ensure efficient rural development and the effective functioning of the Panchayat Raj Department, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Saturday presided over an extensive review meeting.

The review meeting, assessed the progress of various ongoing initiatives, discussed challenges faced by the department, and strategize for future development plans in the Bandipora district.

During the meeting, detailed updates were provided on the status of ongoing rural development projects and schemes within the district. The allocation and utilization of funds for rural development initiatives were reviewed, with a focus on ensuring transparency and accountability.

The DC stressed for community participation, especially PRIs in decision-making processes and empowering local Panchayats. He said that there is a need for improving rural infrastructure, including roads, sanitation facilities, and electrification to enhance the quality of life in rural areas.

On the occasion, the DC also stressed the importance of collaboration between different government agencies, departments, and local bodies to achieve the development goals effectively.

The DC directed the concerned officers to speed up the process of execution. He further directed for timely completion of the works, especially before the commencement of winter season.

Dr Owais stated that the district administration is committed to ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach every household. He said that the Panchayat Raj system plays a crucial role in achieving development goals.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan, Nodal Officer Coordination/ACD Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, JD Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, ACP, Executive Engineer REW, besides Block Development Officers (BDOs) and AEEs/AEs.
