On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the
Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, today, on 1st October 2023 79 BN
CRPF, celebrated Swachhata Pakhwada, in Sonwar Srinagar.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the important flagship
programme of the Government, initiated by the Prime Minister to
fulfil the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to make a clean and hygienic
India, Central Reserve Police Force launched Swachhata
Pakhwada during the second fortnight of September 2023.
Today’s special culmination event of Swachchta Pakhwada
commenced by Shramdan in the foothill area of Shankaracharya
Hills, and Syed Hanifiya Dargah area, by Sh Ajay Kumar Yadav,
IPS, IG CRPF, Srinagar Sector, Sh Kishore Kumar, Commandant,
79 BN CRPF, Sh Vishwadeep Singh, 2IC, other Officers and
personnel of 79 BN CTPF. Besides, citizens, from different walks of
life, NGOs, and sports personalities/Cricket Teams also
participated in the cleanliness drive. Care Foundation, Sonwar,
J&K Social Welfare Committee and Intazamia Committee actively
participated in the event.

To spread awareness and importance of Swachhata in one’s life,
Swachhata Pledge was administered to CRPF personnel. During
the special Swachhta Pakhwada, Shri Kishore Kumar,
Commandant 79 Battalion encouraged all the employees to avoid
all types of single use plastic in their daily official/personal
activities with the aim of maintaining cleanliness as well as
preserving the environment. During the special cleanliness
fortnight, banners and posters related to cleanliness awareness
were displayed in the Vahini camp.
