NSS foundation day celebrated with enthusiasm, gaiety at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 25: The 54th National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour at Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur here under the supervision of Prof. Rajinder Singh, NSS PO.

NSS volunteers presented a variety cultural show including Nukkad Natak by Anchal and group, Bangra folk dance by Pavneet and group and solo dance by Sakshi and Radha. Besides the volunteers also recited the NSS song. Priyanka and Tanya delivered motivational speeches on the duties and responsibilities of NSS volunteers towards society. Also Rupali, Kritika and Sanjana entertained the audiences with their self composed poetry.

The Principal of the College Prof. Anjali Mahajan was the chief guest. The programme started with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest, Prof. Anjali Mahajan along with other senior faculty members.

While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Anjali Mahajan applauded the students for coming to the forefront and taking part in such events. She told that basic aim of NSS is to “inculcate the social welfare thoughts in the students, and to provide service to the society without any prejudice.” She particularly mentioned humility as the tools to be used to lead a life which is instrumental for working in the service of humanity.

Earlier, Prof. Rajinder Singh, NSS PO presented formal welcome address. He briefed about the importance of NSS and basic duties and activities performed by NSS volunteers for community. He also appraised the audience about the history of NSS and appealed to the volunteers to relate their learning and experiences towards finding solutions to the problems.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Swati Gandotra ans Sunila.

Among others who graced the occasion by their presence were Dr. Seema Sharma, Prof. Kewal Kumar, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Dr Amit Kumar, Prof. Paramjit Singh, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhyay, Prof. Mushtaq, Prof. Tania Mahajan, Arun Gupta, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Prof. Yash Kumar, and about 80 numbers of NSS Volunteers.
