Yasha Mudgal visits Samba; inspects functioning of dairy processing plant, FPO

SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 21: Commissioner Secretary, Cooperatives, Yasha Mudgal, today visited dairy processing plant and Fruits Agro and Vegetables Producers Cooperative Limited(FPO), Bari Brahmana, Samba.

Mudgal inspected the working of dairy processing unit, which is affiliated with the Jammu and Kashmir Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited (JKCDF), located in Bari Brahmana and the Vijaypur Fruits Agro and Vegetables Producers Cooperative Limited (FPO) in Vijaypur, Samba.

Commissioner Secretary assessed the readiness of JKCDF processing unit and gave necessary instructions for early launch of milk and milk products in the market. She stressed upon the importance of establishing more cooperatives as members of the federation. She encouraged exploration of additional marketing avenues for dairy cooperatives in this milk surplus Union Territory.

Later, she also inspected the Vijaypur Fruits Agro and Vegetables Producers Cooperative Limited (FPO) and took stock of cultivation and marketing of “Dragon fruits.” This FPO, affiliated with NABARD, has shown significant progress in a short period, boasting over 150 members and achieving a business turnover of over Rs 12 lakh in just 5 months.

Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives was accompanied by Additional Secretary Cooperatives, Kewal Sharma, Joint Registrar, Rakesh Dubey and Joint Director Planning Cooperative Madan Gopal Sharma, along with other senior officers of the department.

During the visit, Mudgal briefed about various initiatives of the Cooperative Department of Government of India and administration of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
