Police arrests 09 gamblers in Pulwama, stake money seized

August 30: Acting tough against the social crimes, police have arrested 09 gamblers in Pulwama and seized stake money from their possession.

Acting on specific information about presence of gamblers at public sites at Newa and Prichoo Pulwama, accordingly, police parties headed by SHO PS Pulwama under the supervision of SP Headquarter Pulwama raided the said places and arrested 09 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Nabi Khan, Hilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Ab Razaq Wani, Javaid Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Akram Mir, Nisar Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Gani Sheikh all residents of Newa Pulwama and Tariq Ahmad Sheikh son of Ali Mohd Sheikh resident of Chatapora, Bashir Ah sheikh son of Gh Mohammad sheikh resident of Chatapora, Hilal Ahmad Zargar son of Ab Rasheed Zargar resident of Malikpora and Haris Bhat son of Mohd Yousuf Bhat resident of Prichoo.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹72,160/- and playing cards from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated.

People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
