District Mineral Office Kishtwar organises awareness programme cum seminar

The District Mineral Office Kishtwar under the aegis of “Meri Matti Mera Desh” organised an informative awareness programme cum seminar at Conference Hall, DC Office Complex Kishtwar.

The event witnessed active participation from approximately 150 attendees, including Heads of HydroElectric Power Project, Mining lease holders, representatives and owners of Stone crushers, as well as representatives of NGOs.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Mineral Officer Kishtwar, Dr. Brijesh Kumar Manhas emphasized the importance of responsible mining practices and the urgent need for environmental conservation. Dr. Manhas urged the attendees to strictly adhere to the government’s guidelines during mineral extraction to ensure sustainable development and preservation of natural resources.

Dr. Manhas encouraged corporate entities and mining lease holders to take up plantation drives across vulnerable areas, including sliding areas, project sites, as a step towards ensuring long-term environmental serenity.

The seminar featured resource persons from various organizations, with L.M.S Parihar Founder cum Advisor of Vishwashanti NGO for peace, Environment & Rural Development providing a detailed insight into environmental preservation for future generations. Parihar shed light on anthropogenic activities that contribute to environmental degradation and sensitized participants about the social responsibilities of corporates in promoting sensible mining practices.

The event aimed to foster a deeper understanding of responsible mining practices and create awareness about the essential role each individual and organization plays in preserving the environment for a sustainable future.
