Public cooperation, a must element for the success of the cleanliness mission: Dr Bilal

As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahautsav’ and under the aegis of Swchhta Pakhwada programme, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today kick-started fortnight cleanliness drive.

The DC also flagged-off caravan of 20 Solid Waste Collection (SWC) vehicles for Panchayats from mini-secretariat, here.

An intensive cleanliness drive was also carried out at mini-secretariat and the drive was led by the DC himself.

ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; ACR, ACD, ACP and other district officers and staff members of various departments housed in mini secretariat enthusiastically participated in this cleanliness drive.

Sweeping staff from the Municipal Council were also involved in this sanitation drive.

During this drive, paper waste/ plastic waste were removed from the area inside the mini secretariat complex and lawns. The staff also carried out dusting/cleaning of offices.

The DC instructed the staff of all the departments to ensure proper hygiene around their respective place of work.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC termed public cooperation a must element for the success of the cleanliness mission. He also highlighted the measures and steps taken to make Kulgam a beautiful and clean district.

He added that under Swach Bharat Mission 150 panchayats have been made model panchayats.

The DC also instructed the ACD to start intensive drive to lift legacy waste for its proper disposal.

It was shared that under the 15 day long cleanliness campaign major focus is being given on cleaning of water bodies, parks, roads, schools, hospitals and colleges.
