Har Gaon Haryali monsoon plantation campaign launched in Rajouri district

To connect village Panchayats and local people into Green J&K drive for improving village tree cover, a mass monsoon plantation drive with free plant distribution was today kick started across various villages of Rajouri district.

Under the campaign mode of Har Gaon Haryali, the target is to cover all 386 villages in the district for plant distribution and plantation with focus on schools, panchayat ghars, vacant government lands as well as private land to increase Trees outside forest cover and improve environment.

A total of 14 villages were covered today which included Dalogra, Danma, Agrati, Manyal, Azamtabad, Rajdhani, Dehri Ralyote, Balli, Kha, Kahdarian, Sailsui, Jigni, Dhangri and Rajnagar.

In the events, school children, local representatives of the public and villagers in large numbers joined the Forest Department in the planting of trees conducted under the supervision of Conservator of Forest West Circle Rajouri , Vivek Verma.

Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri Dr A D Singh informed that the campaign target is to ensure all villages in the district are covered in the current monsoon season. He invited Sarpanches/villagers to help the forest department in making the campaign a success in all Panchayats. He also thanked the local villagers for successfully planting 3200 plants and distributing 4600 saplings for a home-to-home plantation drive on the occasion.

Another interesting feature of the programme was that 120 plants were planted and distributed under the “Ped Lagao Beti Ke Naam” slogan to celebrate and recognize the role of women in society
