DC Kulgam reviews Cooperative sector, chairs DCDC meeting

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired the District Cooperative Development Committee meeting at the mini-secretariat Kulgam to review the Cooperative sector in the district.

During the meeting, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Nazir Ahmad informed the chair that the department has taken several initiatives to strengthen the cooperative movement in the district.

He gave an overview of the present status of cooperative societies in the district. It was given out that there are 14 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) in the district and 122 other societies under the Self Reliant Cooperative Societies Act under various sectors such as Dairy & Fisheries societies, marketing societies and other agri and non-agri Cooperatives.

The DC urged the Cooperative department to create model societies in each block.

He urged the allied departments to work towards the objective of strengthening the cooperative movement in the district and deepening its reach to the grassroots level.

The DC further directed the concerned officials to make vigorous efforts in order to realize the vision of Sahakar se Samridhi for strengthening of cooperative movement in the district.

He also instructed for assessing the financial/credit requirement of the PACS and exploring the options of mobilising the financial support from institutions like NCDC/NABARD/NDDB/NFDB.

The DC also reviewed the progress of adoption of model bylaws by the PACS, computerization of PACS, updating of data in national cooperative databases and other agenda as per the guidelines.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; JDP Zahid Sajjad; ACR Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; DDM NABARD, Rouf Ahmad; Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, CAO, DSHO, AD Fisheries, LDM, GM Anantnag CC Bank and other officers
