Legacy Waste Management process to be completed soon in all Panchayats of the District

In order to review the progress in the implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar, aimed at developing and rejuvenating water bodies, a meeting of Rural Development Department was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

Chief Planning Officer, Srinagar, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Srinagar, DFO, Urban Forestry, DFO Social Forestry, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Soil Conservation Officer, Executive Engineer I&FC, Executive Engineer REW, District Floriculture Officer, District Lead Manager and other concerned Officers.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress made so far in implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar by the concerned Departments in the District in rejuvenating springs/ponds for their development as envisaged under the Mission.

At the outset, the DC sought an action plan from all the line Departments in order to fill the gaps to fully achieve the target as per set indicators under Mission.

The DC was apprised that about 77 springs/ponds have been rejuvented/ developed so far by RDD, I&FC, SMC, Soil Conservation and Forest Departments in the District and 03 new Amrit Sarovars are being taken up this year.

The DC stressed the concerned officers to lay focused attention on identifying the Gaps to fill them at the earliest.

The DC also asked them to strengthen catchment treatment measures, besides ensuring timely uploading of data.

While reviewing the progress on implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen 2.0, the DC asked the concerned to finsh the legacy waste process from all Panchayats of District within 2 weeks.

During the meeting, the DC also reviewed activities taken under District Capex, IEC campaign and upgradation of Amrit Sarovars rejuvented under Corporate Social Responsibility.

Underscoring the importance of conservation and protection of water resources, the DC said Water is one of the most important natural resources and is an invaluable gift from nature to the entire human race.
