A group of talented high school students from Kreeri Higher Secondary School Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, have developed an innovative and cost-effective apple grading machine. The process of apple grading is difficult and expensive and the local growers have faced a competitive disadvantage due to this factor in play. Shakir Ahmad, Adnan Mushtaq, and Furqan Rashid, a brilliant trio, understood this difficulty and, with the help of Javed Ahmad from HSS and the Pi Jam Foundation, found a creative solution to the problem. The machine, designed by these young innovators, aims to revolutionize the apple farming industry by automating the tedious and time-consuming process of grading apples. This breakthrough invention not only promises to enhance efficiency but will also empower local farmers and guarantee fair prices for their goods. This invention won recognition during National Technology Week and was placed in the top 10 of the renowned Youth IDEAthon 2022 competition. It is a portable device that effectively cleans and grades apples, giving farmers a much-needed tool to evaluate and market their harvest on their own. The machine is a remarkable example of ingenuity and resourcefulness. The machine incorporates a combination of advanced technologies and simple mechanisms, making it easy to operate and maintain. Its design is optimized to handle a large quantity of apples while ensuring accurate and reliable grading.

Conveyor System: The apple grading machine consists of a conveyor belt system that transports the apples from one end to another. The speed of the conveyor can be adjusted according to the requirement, allowing for efficient processing. Optical Grading Technology: The machine employs optical sensors and cameras to analyze various parameters of the apples, such as size, color, and quality. This technology ensures precise grading and minimizes human error. Sorting Mechanism: After analyzing the apples, the machine utilizes a sorting mechanism to separate them into different categories based on predetermined grading criteria. The sorted apples are then directed to respective compartments for packaging or further processing. User-Friendly Interface: The machine is equipped with a user-friendly interface, enabling farmers and workers to easily operate and control the grading process. It provides real-time feedback on the grading results, allowing for adjustments if necessary.
