Karnah Kupwara:World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. It is supported by many non-governmental organizations, businesses, government entities, and represents the primary United Nations outreach day supporting the environment.   As part of run upto the World Environment Day the Indian Army organised series of activities starting from 28 May to 05 Jun 2023. The activities included trekking for the school children, poster making competition, afforestation by drone seed dropping method, plantation drive in association with Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Save Soil campaign in collaboration with Conscious Planet Organisation, Cleanliness Drive to promulgate the World Environment Day them 2023 #BeatPlasticPollution, Letter writing by students to LG of J&K UT about environmental preservation initiatives and mass pledge taking to preserve environment on 05 Jun 2023.  Over the entire week filled with educational activities to promote awareness about environmental sustainability and preservation, a huge number of 485 students were engaged through the above mentioned outreach activities. The zealous participation of students in far flung border area of the country was overwhelming and impact full.   The World Environment Week concluded on 05 Jun 2023 with a great congregation of students who took part in the activities conducted over a week long outreach activities, the students participated in mass oath taking event to protect environment and practice sustainable living which gave the Environment Day a worthy conclusion.
