YSS Activities in North Kashmir Promote Healthy Lifestyle and Sustainable Transportation

YSS Daily Round-up (North Kashmir) : Bandipora, Kupwara, and Baramulla, June 3, 2023 – The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) J&K in North Kashmir recently organized a series of activities to promote a healthy lifestyle and sustainable transportation methods, including cycling. These initiatives aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of physical fitness, reduced traffic congestion, and a cleaner environment. Under the collaboration between the J&K Department of Youth Services & Sports and the District Administration Bandipora, a grand celebration marked the World Bicycle Day. The highlight of the event was a vibrant Cycle Rally, which witnessed the active participation of approximately 200 students from schools in the region. The rally emphasized the importance of cycling as an eco-friendly mode of transportation and showcased the dedication of the youth towards building a greener future. Similarly, in Kupwara, the Department of Youth Services & Sports, under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Zahoor Ahmad Wani, organized a Bicycle Race to commemorate World Bicycle Day. The race witnessed the participation of students from various zones, with officials from the department deployed along the route to facilitate the participants. During the closing ceremony, the speakers highlighted the eco-friendly and affordable nature of bicycle riding and encouraged citizens to adopt it as a means of transportation. Meanwhile, in collaboration with the Forest Department, activities were organized under the mission Life ” Nasha Muqat Bharat Abhiyaan” in Zone Uri, Baramulla district. These activities aimed to promote a drug-free lifestyle and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. The YSS activities in North Kashmir not only focused on fostering the talents and potential of the youth but also emphasized the significance of physical well-being and sustainable practices.  Overall, these YSS activities showcased the commitment of the department and the district administrations to the holistic development of the youth, while also addressing the pressing concerns of health, environment, and community well-being.  Publicity Coordinator  (North Kashmir)  (Central Kashmir)    YSS Ganderbal Celebrated World Bicycle Day 2023 under the theme “Riding Together for a Sustainable Future” in various schools of Zone Ganderbal. GMS Gadoora Ganderbal Observed world Bicycle day and conducted a cycle rally of Boys students of the school. The Rally commenced from the MM Stadium Ganderbal and culminated at the main gate of the school covering almost about Five Kilometers distance. A large number of budding cyclists took part in the rally with high level of fitness and enthusiasm. Likewise another cycle rally was conducted by BHS Arch Ganderbal in connection with observance of World Bicycle Day 2023. The aim of conducting such rally was to acknowledge the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship and health. Moreover Zone Ganderbal organized Inter school Zonal Level Selection Trials in the discipline of Table Tennis for boys U/14 and U/17 years at BHSS Ganderbal. The event witnessed the participation of 20 enthusiastic Table Tennis players from various schools of the Zone. The Spoken Zone also conducted inter-school Chess, carom and Rope Skipping competition at BMS Gratbal for both the genders of the school. The winners were felicitated with well deserved medals by the senior officials of the department. Similarly Zone Tullamulla also organized an Inter School Zonal Level Table Tennis Competition for Girls falling in the age group of U/19 years at BHSS Wakura. The event witnessed the participation of 12 student players from different schools of the Zone. The meritorious players were awarded with medals by the Principal BHSS Wakura Mr. Ab. Majid Rangrez.  Meanwhile District Budgam is flourishing with sports activities organized by the Department  of Youth Services and Sports Budgam, led by the renowned District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mr. Balbir Singh Sodi. Zone Hardpanzoo organized Handball for Boys AAG at HSS HARDPANZOO. The inauguration of the said event was done by Overall In charge Mr.JAVED Ahmad Banday with all other officials of zone. Large number of Boys from different Government as well as Private Schools of Zone Hardpanzoo participated in this event with great enthusiasm. Zone Chadoora also organized Handball competition for U/14 and U/17 at open ground Rangar Chadoora. The inauguration of the said event was done by Overall in charge of zone Chadoora Mr. Mohammad Yaseen Shah. A Total of 144 girls from different schools of Zone participated in the event. Zone  Budgam in collaboration with DYSSO Budgam organized Badminton competition for boys U 14/ U 17 at indoor stadium Budgam. The said event was inaugurated by worthy ZPEO Budgam Mr. Tariq Ahmad in which 102 boys of different schools of the zone participated. Zone MAGAM organized Table Tennis   (singles and doubles) for GIRLS    U-14 and U/17 at Boys Higher Secondary School Magam. The Inauguration of the said event was done by Overall in charge Mr. Gh Nabi Shah. 46 girls from different schools participated in this event. Zone Charari-sharief Organized Tenni-koit, Tag of war and Handball for Boys AAG at Sports Stadium Charari-sharief. In which more than 200 students have participated with Great Enthusiasm. The Said Event Was Inaugurated By Overall in charge Mr. Gh Mohammad Bhat. Similarly In light of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav & annual calendar of activities competitions are being conducted by the department of YSS Srinagar. Zone Amira kadal organized the competition of badminton for boys falling under the age group of 17 years at the indoor sports Hall of Burn hall school. Sixty participants from different Educational Institutions of Zone Amirakadal participated in this event. Similarly Zone Nishat conducted Volleyball competitions for all age groups of girls. The event was conducted at boys’ Higher Secondary School Shalimar. A Total of 130 Girls pertaining to different schools of Zone Nishat participated in this competition. Like Wise Zone Rainawari conducted a badminton competition for girls falling under the age group of U/17 and U/19. The competition conducted at Girls Higher secondary school Khanyar witnessed the participation of 70 passionate and enthusiastic girls.  Zone Gulabbagh conducted inter school zonal level competitions in Kho-Kho and volleyball for boys under the age group of U/17. The event was conducted at the ground of BMS Zakura. A Total of 400 participants participated in this event. Moreover The Department of Health Services Kashmir in collaboration with Chief Education Officer Srinagar and District Youth Services & Sports Officer Srinagar – organized a cycle race which started from Old Secretariat Srinagar at 7.00 am. The race was flagged off by the chief Medical officer Srinagar Dr.Jameel Mir in presence of C.E.O Srinagar Mr. Mohammad Shabir & the Senior Officials of DYSSO Srinagar. The Rally witnessed the participation of 250 students of different Educational Institutions of Srinagar comprising of boys/girls of all age groups. Cyclists passed through M.A.Road/TRC/Residency Road & culminated at Old Secretariat Srinagar. The students and officials were provided by the Department of DYSSO Srinagar. Publicity Coordinator (Central Kashmir)  South Kashmir   The Department of Youth Services and Sports JK District Kulgam Zone Yaripora conducted an inter-school zonal level competitions in the discipline of Volleyball and Kabbadi for Girls under 14 and under 17 categories in the premises of GHSS Yaripora, in which 409 students from various schools of the zone actively participated. At the end of competition,   the winners and runners up teams were felicitated.  The zone also organized one day trekking event,to provide and enriching experience for the participants. The trekking started from Ms Sofipora to Reshipora  Yaripora. 20 students from the zone  participated in the trekking with great enthusiasm.   And also Zone Devsar organised interschool zonal level competition in the discipline of Badminton  U/14 & U/17 Boys Girls at S S Devsar &HSS Devsar. In which 209 students participated from different Government/ Privative institutions of the zone.Winner and Runner up Teams were felicitated by certificates at the end of completion.and also  Zone Kulgam organised Kabaddi inter school zone level tournament u/14 and U/ 17 boys at sports stadium Kulgam.   In district Anantnag,  To celebrate World Bicycle Day Department of Youth Services & Sports hosted a Bicycle Rally of around 10kms in collaboration with the Department of Health from Khanabal to Sports Stadium Matan which was flagged off by Worthy Chief Medical Officer Anantnag and worthy District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag with a participation of around 45 cyclists from different schools. Speaking on this occasion Chief Medical Officer thanked the Department of Youth Services & Sports for the collaboration in organizing this event and congratulated the participating students for taking part in this initiative. On this occasion, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag congratulated the students and the Department of Health for this event and displays a commitment towards such events in future also. In addition to this   Zone Mattan today organized various sports events for its tribal youth at High School Wantrang in which a good number of tribals participated with full enthusiasm. The said tribal event was attended by District Development Council Misra Jee, Block Development Chairman Abdul Majeed along with District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag Tehsildar Mattan, Zonal Physical Education Officer Mattan, Headmistress High School Wantrang. The events which were played at the venue included VolleyBall, Kabaddi, Tug of War and a cultural program was part of this tribal sports event displaying their local tradition. It is pertinent to mention here that in this event around   85 took part and at the closing ceremony medals and trophies were distributed among the toppers. Zone Asmuqam today Organized a Zone Level Badminton Event for Boys under the Age Group of 14 & 17 at High School Ashmuqam with 82 participants, while Zone Bidder conducted a Cycle Rally on the eve of World BiCycle Day with a participation of 25 students which was flagged off by Block Medical Officer Larnoo in presence of Zonal Physical Education Officer Bidder. Kicks off Badminton tournament for Girls Under Age Group of 14 & 17 at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Bhijbehra with a sound participation of 95 female students. YSS Pulwama zone Tahab  organized  inter school zonal level tournaments U17 ( Girls) for Kho- Kho and Volley Ball today at HS Tahab. ZEO Tahab  and Headmaster HS Tahab  inaugrated the event in presence of a huge gathering of student players came all across the zone with great enthusiasm. Speaking on the inaugral ceremony, both the guests appreciated the enormous efforts put in by the officials of sports department . They have advised the players to be the active participants of games conducted by the sports department from time to time because only a sound body keeps a sound mind. Matches were played on volley ball turf and vast green field of HS Tahab through out the day. Yss zone kakapora organised interschool zonal level tournament of kho kho for girls. The tournament was inaugrated by Dysso Pulwama jagdesh Raj sharma. Similarly ZPEO Tral Organised the Tournaments of Volleyball, Kabaddi & Kho-kho Boys U/17at Bajwani Tral.The Tournaments were early Inaugurated by Worthy Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral in presence of ZPEO Tral,Officials of YS&S & Participiants.Some glimpses of the Tournaments r below  Moreover a yoga event was organised by zpeo Lurgam held at HSS Satoora where a huge participation was recorded.   Similarly Department  of Youth  Services  and Sports District  Shopian organized  different  sports  activities in concern Zones.In Zone  Vehil Kho kho  Competition of u/14 of girls was held at play field Dangam under the banner of Azadi ka Amrit Maha Utsav. In Zone Shopian  One day  TREKKING for boys AAG was organized from HSS BORIHALLAN  to SHALWAS  under the banner of G20 Summit 2023. Chief guest Mr. Nigeen Ahmad Bhat (HS BORIHLLAN) Flagged off the TREKKERS.In this event 91 Students from different institutions of the Zone Shopian  Participated.  At  Zone Imamsahib  Cricket  match  of u/14 and u/17 boys  was played  at HSS HSS IMAMSAHIB  Publicity Coordinator South Kashmir
