On 2nd June 20123 Millet fair (Mela) was organized at 10 Bn SSB Batmaloo, Srinagar.   The fair was inaugurated by Commandant, Sh. Rohitashwa. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Millets have been an integral part of our diet for centuries. In addition to a plethora of health benefits, millets are also good for the environment with law water and inputs requirement. With the aim to create awareness and increase production on consumption of Millets, United Nation, at the behest of the government of India, declared 2023 The International Year of Millets.   In today’s fair, the stalls of various dishes of Millets were beautifully showcased. In which Bajra Khichdi, Maize & Bajra partha, Bajra Tikki, Kangani khir, Bajra Peda & Bajra Barfi etc. were favourite dishes of the Jawan. The enthusiasm of SSB personnel was worth seeing in this fair. On this occasion, Sh. Gaurav Mishra, Commandant (Medical) & officers of various Battalions also participated.  Bn SSB organized a Millet Mohatsav on observance of International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023 at his Battalion Headquarters Batmaloo, Srinagar.   The aim of the programme was to create awareness about benefits of millets and to promote consumption of Millets at a larger scale and bring it to the knowledge of personnel.   To charm the Millet Mohatsav, various stalls were exhibited at the said ground.  Millet centric meals /foods were made during the said Mahotsav in each stall. Dishes like Bajra Roti, Bajra Khichudi, Makka Roti, Bajra Tikki, Bajra Peda, Bajra Barfi etc.  were made in said stall. Total – 06 (Six) stalls were exhibited in the said ground.   Beside above, to mark the said Mahotsav, games were also organized.  All Officers / officials of 10 Bn SSB were participated in the said Mahotsav with full enthusiasm and enjoy the test of millets items.     Speaking on the occasion, Commandant, Sh. Rohitashwa, 10 Bn SSB said GOI focused to promote cultivation and consummation of millets as millets are primarily a kharif crop, requiring less water and agriculture inputs than other similar staples. Such type of programme will provide an opportunity for increasing the benefits among all personnel.
