Srinagar, May 04: The Administrative staff of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Thursday organized a function to accord farewell to the outgoing Director Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal who completed his five and half years tenure.  The function was attended by Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Deputy Registrar (Accounts) Nazia Nazir, Deputy Registrar (Admin) Faisal Irshad Ganai, Asst. Registrar Director’s Office and Legal, Mohammad Hazik.  Asst. Registrar (Admin) Mohammad Iqbal Dar, Asst. Registrar (Accounts) Shahid Hamid Najar, Asst. Registrar (Academic) Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, Asst. Registrar S&P, Mohammad Amin, Dr. Syed Mohsin Shabir (XEN), Asst. Security Officer Mushtaq Ahmad and other staff members were present on the occasion.  In his key speech, Prof. Sehgal expressed his gratitude to everyone and stated that he had joined NIT Srinagar with a mission to enhance visibility and make it a hub of academic excellence.  “The skills and knowledge that I have acquired during my time here will undoubtedly serve me well in my future endeavors. I am proud of what we have accomplished together at NIT Srinagar and will always look back on my time here with fondness,” Prof. Sehgal said.  He urged young staff members to work with coordination, integrity and extend support to each other to make NIT Srinagar as one of the leading engineering institutes in the country.  “I am confident that the new Director  will thrive and achieve new heights of excellence and I wish him all the very best for the future,” Prof. Sehgal added.  On the occasion, Institute’s Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said the dedication, expertise, and hard work of Prof. Sehgal has been an inspiration to all of us. “You have played an integral role in shaping NIT Srinagar and helping us to achieve our goals, and for that, we are forever grateful,” he said.  “I have had the pleasure of working closely with you over the past several years and have learned so much from your wisdom and guidance. This leadership and vision have helped us create a positive and productive work environment at the Institute,” Prof. Bukhari said.  Later during the function, outgoing Director Prof Sehgal was felicitated with a Kashmiri shawl and memento by staff members for his  wide contribution  at NIT Srinagar during the past 5 and half years.  Prof. Sehgal joined as Director NIT Srinagar in November 2017 and will complete his term on April 06. During his tenure NIT Srinagar achieved many milestones including improvement of NIRF rankings from 239th rank in 2019 and 66th rank in 2022.
