Azad’s close aide resigns from DPAP

Srinagar, Apr 07,: Zahid Hussain Jan, basic member of Democratic Progressive Azad Party on Friday resigned from the Azad led party.

Zahid Hussain Jan confirmed to news agency that he has resigned from the basic membership of the party. “I along with Municipal Chairman Budgam and 20 municipal councillors of Budgam district have resigned from the basic membership from the DPAP,” he said.

Zahid was stated to be one of the close aides to Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) formerly Democratic Azad Party was formed by Ghulam Nabi Azad on 26 September 2022 in Jammu and Kashmir. The party’s top three agendas in Jammu and Kashmir are restoration of full statehood, right to land and employment to native domiciles. The party’s ideology is based on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.

Azad was earlier with the All India Congress Committee and later resigned. Before joining Azad, Jan too was part of Congress and was district president for Budgam.
