DC Anantnag approves 106 cases under Mission Vatsalya

ANTNAG, MARCH 02: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, sanctioned 106 eligible cases of sponsorship under Mission Vatsalya here today.

During the meeting, the District Social Welfare made a presentation on various aspects of Mission Vatsalya, an umbrella scheme for child protection services in the country.

Components under Mission Vatsalya include improving functioning of statutory bodies; strengthening service delivery structures; upscaling institutional care and services; encouraging non-institutional community-based care; emergency outreach services; training and capacity building.

Dr. Qayoom highlighted that under PM CARES for Children, the eligible criteria include orphans, children with one parent who is a widow or divorced, parents who are victims of life-threatening diseases or are incapacitated or unable to take care of their children both physically and financially, children falling under JJ Act 2015, and victims of natural calamities. He pressed for coverage of all eligible beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by the DSWO, Zaiba Appa Chairman Javaid Tak, staff of DCP, and Chairman CWC, among other officials of the department.
