SHOPIAN, FEBRUARY 15: To take firsthand account of public grievances, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today presided over a public outreach programme within the premises of Govt Boys Middle School Reban Zainapora under the weekly Block Diwas programme.

General public and panchayat representatives apprised the DDC about a number of issues and projected development and welfare based demands of their areas and improvements in sports, educational, health care facilities etc.

Specific issues included better electricity and water supplies, protection works alongside Nallas of Reban and adjacent villages.

Public of the area demanded for establishing PHC in Reban, macadamisation of internal roads, installation of street lights, repair of PMGSY roads and up-gradation of transformers for Village Takya and Village Reban Zainapora Shopian.

The DDC gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands projected by locals and assured that all their genuine concerns would be redressed in a phased manner.

DDC directed the Jal Shakti Department for ensuring installation of adequate pipelines in Reban immediately for providing them with a portable drinking water facility.

Addressing the large public gathering during the event, the DDC reiterated that the District Administration is making untiring efforts to provide all basic facilities to the common masses at their doorsteps and redress the grievances timely.

Earlier enroute, DDC interacted with the people on various public issues and sought their active participation in the development activities.

The officers of different departments also replied to the queries raised by the public during the event and also educated them about the schemes and programmes being implemented in the district and motivated them to avail the benefits of the same.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmad, Tehsildar, Zainapora, BDO Zainapora, AEE R&B, Jal Shakti, Officers of line departments and other concerned were present.

The event witnessed huge participation of people who came in hundreds from adjacent villages of Reban.
