KUPWARA, FEBRUARY 11: The Deputy Commissioner(DC), Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray finalized the arrangements for the celebration of upcoming festivals of Shab-e Mehraj and Maha Shivratri in Kupwara district. The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers and field functionaries to ensure fool-proof arrangements on the eve of these holy days. He directed concerned officers to intensify joint market checking across the markets of Kupwara, Handwara, Sogam, Langate, Trehgam and other markets to control any kind of profiteering and black marketing of essential commodities. The Executive Engineer Electric division Kupwara and Handwara, Executive Engineer STD Grid Sopore and Executive Engineer PHE division Kupwara and Handwara were directed to ensure availability of uninterrupted power supply and portable drinking water supply especially at all shrines and mosques where huge congregation are expected. Directions were also passed to concerned officers for ensuring other arrangements including security, deployment of magistrates, cleanliness/ sanitation, and availability of essential commodities including Rice, Atta, Sugar, Kerosene oil and LPG in the district. Orders were issued to concerned Block Medical officers for making Medicare facilities available at required places, besides Fire and Emergency Services was directed to keep fire tenders, available. ARTO was directed to make hassle-free transport and better traffic management across the district. Chief Medical officer Kupwara and Medical Superintendent District hospital Handwara were directed to keep available teams of doctors along with sufficient Medicare in all the health institutions round the clock to meet out any exigency. The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements for celebration of upcomming festival of Maha Shivratri and directed for same arrangements. He also asked Sr. Superintendent of Police Kupwara and SP Handwara to make adequate security arrangements at required places especially at congregational places to avoid any law and order problem. Chief Agriculture officer, Kupwara has been directed to ensure availability of fresh vegetables on all the days of Maha Shivratri while as AD Fishries was asked to ensure availability of fish in different markets of the district. The Deputy commissioner has directed Executive officer Municipality Kupwara, Handwara and Langate for launching of cleanliness drive at the places where main congregation will be held.
