SHOPIAN, FEBRUARY 06: The District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today inaugurated district level Training and Orientation program for effective Implementation of 29 projects under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) in the district at Meeting Hall of Mini-Secretariat Shopian.  A total of 29 training schedules are planned at the district level for the next one month, in which all technical staff of Agriculture and allied sectors will be trained by resource persons of the departments and KVK Shopian.  Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that capacity building programmes will ensure availability of quality human resources and provide necessary ground support for implementation of holistic agriculture development plan.  The economy of the district depends directly on Agriculture and allied sectors as such the new projects will surely drive growth in Agriculture and Allied Sector, boost local economy and improve productivity, said  DDC Shopian.  The DDC further said that this is J&K’s moment to shine and agriculture and allied sectors will be the mainstay of the economy. The ambitious project’s aim is to make farming viable, productive and sustainable with better input, extension support, risk mitigation and ensuring remunerative prices and market support”.  Dr. Zaffar Afroz Badri Project Coordinator, KVK Shopian highlighted the key features and goals of the Policy made for holistic development of Agriculture and Allied sectors. 2.5 Lakh youth will be connected with sustainable employment in Agriculture and Allied sectors through skill development courses in five years, he further said.  Farooq Ahmad Reshi, Chief Agriculture Officer Shopian informed about the details of mega training and orientation programs to be organized at Districts level.  Mohammad Ramzan War, Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian said these Projects are holistic in every sense in generating speciality products and their promotion in the national and international markets.  District Resource Person Dr. Shaiq Ahmad Ganie Scientist Food Technology KVK Shopian gave a brief about today’s training ‘Food processing for the development of clusters for specific products of J&K UT’.  Technical staff of all Agriculture and allied sectors from across the district, Faculty members of KVK Shopian, besides officers of the concerned departments participated in the inaugural day of training.
