ANANTNAG, FEBRUARY 04: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, SM Ashraf today reviewed the preparations for celebrations of Shab-I-Meraj and Maha Shivratri festivals in the district.  The ADC directed CAPD officials to ensure availability of essentials and conduct regular market checking near major shrines and in areas with sizable hindu population.  Municipal Committees were directed to ensure that cleanliness should be maintained in and around the shrines and other areas where Maha Shivratri is celebrated. They were also directed to be ready for Snow clearance, if required.  Other issues that were discussed including setting up of first aid camps, deployment of ambulances, deployment of Fire and Emergency services, regular supply of water and electricity, deployment of magistrates, availability of poultry and fish in marketplaces, installation of horticulture department sale counters and ensuring adequate public transport facility to major shrines and areas with sizeable hindu population.  The ADC also appealed to the religious leaders present to spread awareness regarding the harm of drugs and to sensitize parents about their responsibility in ensuring their children remain away from this menace.  The meeting was attended by SDM Kokernag, SDM Bijbehara, CAHO, CHO, SE Jal Shakti, SE KPDCL, CEO MC Anantnag, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, DySP HQ, District Floriculture Officer and religious leaders among others.  NO: PR/DDI/SGR/23/6005/
