POONCH, JANUARY 30: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today chaired a joint meeting of Revenue and Police officers here in the conference hall of DC Complex, to discuss and  review the issues pertaining to law and order in the district.  At the outset, brief discussion was held on various issues including, drug de -addiction activities, police assistance during anti-encroachment drive, personal security of tehsildars and other government functionaries, security plan for religious places, special focus on the role of  locally posted employees and police personnel, reconstitution of village/ ward Committees, surveillance of border areas, illegal mining,  etc.  After a thorough discussion, the senior Superintendent of Police, Rohit Baskotra apprised the chair about the overall scenario of drug abuse in the district and measures taken to curb the menace. He informed that the police department is organizing awareness programmes and other activities regularly in collaboration with other departments.

He also assured that the police department will take strict action against persons involved in illegal mining/drug peddlers as per law.  The officers highlighted various issues and shared their suggestions.  The Deputy Commissioner directed all the concerned officers to take strictest action against those involved in drug menace or any other social ailments and also those spreading fake news and mistrust.

The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Rohit Baskotra; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi; SDM Mendhar, Mohd. Jahangir Khan; Tehsildar Haveli Anjum Bashir Khattak; Tehsildar Mandi, Shazad Latied Khan; Tehsildar Hqr. Jahangir Hussain; Tehsildar Surankote, Akbar Hussain, besides, Dysp Hqr. Arfat Hussain, Dysp Operation, Ch. Ajaz Ahmed, SDPO Mendhar, Sheezan Bhat, Dysp DAR, Mohd. Shafiq, SDPO Surankote, Tanveer Jalani and other concerned officers.
