Food Safety Department Budgam intensifies market checking

BUDGAM, JANUARY 27: The Department of Food Safety Budgam intensified market checking at main town Budgam and imposed fines on scores of offenders for violations against Food Safety Standards.

A team, led by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Budgam, conducted rigorous market checking of various restaurants, fast foods  outlets, tea stalls and ethnic street food makers.

During the drive, the team also generated massive awareness about hygienic practices and instructed vendors to strictly avoid use of  harmful newspapers, printed papers and polythene for food wrapping.

Stressing on sale of safe and quality food items, the Assistant Commissioner said “the drive  is  being carried out to ensure all Food Safety Standards are practiced in letter and spirit.”

He said the motto is also to inform service providers for providing healthy and hygienic food to customers and the same (drive) will continue across all markets of the district.

Further, he said strict action as per the law shall be taken against the service providers for resorting to any kind of violations.
